Hoşkin declarations: marriages, trump run, rank sets, and team sets
Compare the main declaration families and their canonical values with clear examples.
Declarations turn specific patterns in the hand into visible points before trick play. A card may participate in the rule model, but validity and totals are determined by the engine rather than by a player's arithmetic. This guide summarizes the principal canonical families.
Normal and trump marriages
A king and queen of one suit form a marriage worth 20 outside trump. For example, K♥ + Q♥ scores 20 when hearts are not trump and 40 as a trump marriage when hearts are selected. Trump can therefore change the value of the same pair.
The trump run
Ace, ten, king, queen, and jack in the trump suit form a run worth 150. All five must share the selected trump suit. The same sequence in a non-trump suit is not scored as the trump run.
Rank sets
The same rank across all four suits forms a set. A single ace set is 100, kings 80, queens 60, and jacks 40. Greater multiplicity reaches higher tables: ace can score 1000 at double and 2000 at fourfold; the corresponding upper values are 800 for kings, 600 for queens, and 400 for jacks.
The team-set family
Combined king and queen sets create the team-set family. The canonical table scores team at 240, kelli team at 320, and full team at 350. The engine counts valid multiplicities; do not infer a variant from the label alone.
Reading the declaration screen
The interface should list combinations found by the rules engine. Read the title, used cards, and points together. In an online table, the server verifies the same hand from authoritative state; the client cannot award points by itself.
Learn the normal-versus-trump marriage first, then remember that a run is valid only in trump. Rank and team sets appear less often but can provide important visible support during bidding.
